Far too many New York Yankees employees have left the Electric City this season.

From the Red Barons (Philadelphia Phillies Triple-A affiliate) to the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders to the Yankees own personal minor-league squad in the Bronx, the Electric City has lived up to its name in 2019.

Next up is relief pitcher Jake Barrett.

Barrett, 27, joins the Yankees as the latest replacement of a fallen star. In three big-league seasons—all with the Arizona Diamondbacks—the righty owns a 4.05 ERA, 1.361 WHIP and 88 strikeouts in 93.1 innings pitched.

The Bomber he replaces is mighty James Paxton.

Paxton, 30, hits the injured list in sudden fashion. He hits the 10-day IL after leaving Friday’s game with left knee inflammation. Big Maple could muster just three innings prior to the disheartening exit.

Considering the current state of the rotation, it’s a major blow. Paxton’s 3.11 ERA and 1.195 WHIP coupled with 52 strikeouts in 37.2 innings paced the Yanks since the early going. Paxton threw 14-straight scoreless innings over two starts prior to the Friday outing that saw him relent three runs.

With Barrett in and Paxton out, the New York Yankees currently battle the Minnesota Twins at Yankee Stadium. Minnesota currently leads 4-0 in the top of the sixth inning.
