The New York Yankees might finally catch a break in the midst of their endless injury updates.

Third baseman Miguel Andujar told Andy Martino of SNY that he will “probably” return from the injured list this weekend. The Yankees began a three-game home set with the Minnesota Twins on Friday, a series that continues on Saturday afternoon (1:05 p.m. ET, YES).

Andujar has missed all but three games of the 2019 season thus far. He played the opening series against Baltimore, going 3-for-13 with one run batted in. A partially torn labrum in his shoulder has kept him out since the beginning of April. Per Zach Braziller of the New York Post, manager Aaron Boone is confident the injury won’t require surgery.

“The fact that we’re here suggests we remain optimistic it is not something he has to take care of (with a procedure),” Boone said. “He wouldn’t have been able to do the things that he’s been able to do to this point if it was something that we determined was going to be a surgical thing.”

Boone mentioned that Andujar’s return would mostly come as a designated hitter, as he expects reserve Gio Urshela to play “a lot at third.” Urshela has been one of many substitutes that have stepped up in the absence of injured regulars, batting .339 entering Friday night’s game. Andujar could play the field as he eases back into the lineup.

“We feel comfortable he’s ready to go from a defensive standpoint,” Boone said. “We’re optimistic because of the strength he’s shown in all of his testing.”

Andujar batted .297 with 25 home runs and 97 RBI last season, his first official year of major league service.
