Former Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees nemesis David Ortiz was reportedly shot Sunday night while in the Dominican Republic.
FOX Sports analyst and former Boston Red Sox slugger, David Ortiz, has been reportedly shot in a burglary attempt while at his home in the Dominican Republic, according to ESPN’s Jeff Passan.
Longtime Boston Red Sox star David Ortiz was shot in a burglary attempt in the Dominican Republic, as @dsoldevila reported. Ortiz’s father told @Enrique_Rojas1 that the 43-year-old is headed to the hospital. A @CDN37 report says Ortiz suffered the gunshot wound in the leg.

The report also indicates Ortiz suffered the wound in his leg, but they have not specified which leg it is. He is headed to the hospital for further examination, as we await more details surrounding his condition.
During his playing days, the man known as “Big Papi” was at his best when it came to playing the archrival New York Yankees. In 243 games, he posted a career .303 batting average while belting 53 home runs, driving in 171 RBI against the Bronx Bombers.
Not only did he crush Yankee pitching, but he also crushed the rest of the Majors. He helped Boston to three championships including the 2004 run where they knocked the Yankees out in the ALCS in seven games.
He’s won seven Silver Slugger awards, four players of the month awards, appeared in 10 All-Star games, along with a 2013 World Series Most Valuable Player the last of his championships as a player
Since his retirement from Major League Baseball, Ortiz has been a key part of FOX Sports’ Postseason coverage alongside his former rival Alex Rodriguez. The two have carried sports most famous rivalry onto television resulting in some entertaining television.
