New York Giants star receiver Odell Beckham Jr. has been ruled out for the Week 17 matchup against the Dallas Cowboys.
It looks like New York Giants’ star receiver Odell Beckham Jr. will have his 2018 season end after 12 games.
Per a report from Jordan Raanan of ESPN, Beckham Jr. will be ruled out for the Giants’ Week 17 game against the Cowboys. After suffering a quad injury in a week 12 loss against the Philadelphia Eagles, this will be OBJ’s fourth consecutive missed game. He missed the Giants win against the Redskins in Week 14 and missed both losses to the Titans and Colts in succeeding weeks.
Beckham thus finishes his fifth season in the NFL with 77 receptions, 1052 yards, and six touchdowns. These are all career lows for the Big Blue receiver, with the exception of his 2017 campaign where he missed the majority of the year after suffering a broken ankle in week 5.
“Obviously, not the way I want to end the season,” Beckham told Raanan. “You train all offseason for these 16 games plus the chance to go to the playoffs. It’s definitely not the way I want to end the season. I’m disappointed in myself, teammates, everybody. Just the whole community. This is not the way I wanted to end it.”
Beckham signed a 5-year $95 million deal with the Giants right before the start of the 2018 regular season.
Obviously, this season isn’t turning out the way he nor the Giants organization wanted, but OBJ is motivated to come back next year even stronger.
“My goal is to bring my AAA-plus game next year,” Beckham stated. “Like I said, I don’t care who is in front of me next year. I’m coming. That is the bottom line. It didn’t go the way we wanted. It didn’t go the way I wanted personally. But take it as a learning lesson and keep on moving.”
