New York Giants wide receiver Golden Tate and quarterback Eli Manning have bonded together as new teammates over golf.
This is the first year Eli Manning and Golden Tate will be together on the sideline for the New York Giants. When it comes to bonding with new teammates, this isn’t their first rodeo. It’s important to establish that connection early on, especially between a quarterback and a wide receiver.
That’s exactly what they’re both doing, and they’re using golf to forge a connection.
“I really enjoy being around Eli,” Tate told Giants.com. “We spent time — obviously in the building — but also outside of here playing golf. And I love his sense of humor.”
Despite Eli seeming quiet and reserved when it comes to the media, many have said in the past he’s very outgoing in the building. He’s been deemed a prankster in the past as well.
When it comes to the golf game, however, it seems Tate takes the cake over Eli.
“My score’s been better the two times we’ve played, so,” Tate said.
It’s not just friendly matches either too, as money has been involved when it comes to the fairways.
“Yeah, I’m just taking a few bucks off him here and there,” Tate said. “There’s nothing wrong with that.”
Tate will be looking to have a big year for his new team after the Giants signed him to a four-year, $37 million deal in March. He can play the slot position, as well as the split wide spot. Wide receiver Sterling Shepard can do the same, which means both will complement each other well in numerous offensive sets.
