“I feel for him, not so much because it’s New York, but I know how much time you put in and how much you want to win,” Girardi said. “It’s tough no matter where you are. There might be more press here, but you have to stay positive because that’s your job. I feel for any manager that’s going through something like this.”
Girardi is patiently waiting for his next opportunity to manage in the major leagues again. One of those teams that could call his name and consider him is the Mets.
Per Andy Martino of SNY, league sources have noted that the Mets have asked around about Girardi. Yes, he’s a great manager but doesn’t show the same talent when facing the media in the press conference room.
One executive, per Martino, mentioned that “If you’re looking for someone who will manage a great game for three hours, Girardi will do that. If you’re looking for someone to win the press conference, that will never be Joe.”
