Former New York Red Bulls midfielder Dax McCarty is amused by scoring his first goal for Chicago Fire against his former club.

Former New York Red Bulls captain Sacha Kljestan broke The Metros hearts after scoring a 1-0 game-winning goal for Orlando City SC on Saturday. Now, ex-RBNY captain Dax McCarty wants to take his glorious turn at the revenge game.

“Getting my first goal against the Red Bulls, that would be fun,” McCarty joked via Dan Santaromita of Pro Soccer USA. “I’m going to try to follow in Sacha’s footsteps.”

McCarty isn’t known for finding the net, rather for sending his teammates on goal. If the midfielder does score against New York, that would not only be his first goal for the Fire but also his first goal since Oct. 1, 2016.

“It’s funny. I don’t score many goals, as you guys know,” the 31-year-old said. “I haven’t scored for the Fire.”

Similarly to McCarty, Kljestan isn’t a scorer either yet still managed to net on RBNY last weekend. It was the Orlando midfielder’s second goal in six months.

Although scoring isn’t McCarty’s specialty, finding the net against his former team isn’t new to him. The former U.S. international netted versus his former club D.C. United on Nov. 1, 2015, in a playoff game with the Red Bulls. New York might want to double or even triple team McCarty.

The Florida native played four games against the Supporters’ Shield champions in a Chicago jersey thus far, racking one assist and registering a 1W-2L-1T record against his old team.

McCarty played for RBNY from 2011 to 2016. The midfielder had some of the most significant moments of his club career with the Red Bulls.

He won his only two Supporters’ Shield trophies with the team, notched his season-high of goals and assists with New York, and was selected for the first time in the MLS All-Star team and the MLS Best XI.

The New York Red Bulls will take on their former captain on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. ET at SeatGeek Stadium.
