WFAN’s Craig Carton releases an apology and breaks his silence following his conviction in a number of crimes including fraud and conspiracy.
Craig Carton’s fall from grace was swift and brutal. The WFAN host awaits sentencing next year after being found guilty on three counts of securities fraud, wire fraud, and conspiracy to commit fraud per Kaja Whitehouse of the New York Post.
Carton is undoubtedly facing time in prison. He could face up to 45 years, but it’s unlikely that he receives that harsh of a sentence.
The bombastic radio host was never at a loss for words, but he’s remained quiet since the guilty verdict came down. He released a message on TwitLonger to thank his fans, listeners, and supporters and of course, apologize for his actions.
“I wanted to take a moment to check in and thank the thousands of you who have sent me your well wishes and prayers. I don’t deserve your kind thoughts at this stage of my life and while I appreciate them more than words could ever describe, I would kindly ask that you do the same for those who I have hurt as a result of my actions; family members, friends, co-workers, investors and loyal listeners.
“I let all of you down, I betrayed your trust and I’m sorry.”
Carton was on top of the New York sports media landscape. He was one of the top voices on the most influential radio station in the biggest market. He had everything he could have wanted.
But unfortunately, gambling is an addiction and it led Carton down a path that led him here. It’s a sad story, but a cautionary tale for anyone with a particular vice.
