While on ESPN’s “Get Up,” Jalen Rose said that Kyrie Irving is “done in Boston” and that his teammates will “help him pack.”

There’s been much speculation about Kyrie Irving’s future with the Boston Celtics. Boston’s playoff hopes are hanging by a thread after three subpar performances from Irving against the Milwaukee Bucks and Giannis Antetokounmpo.

This leads some to believe that Irving’s days with the Celtics are coming to an end.

“They’ve chosen to give the ball to Kyrie to take them home,” Rose said. “He’s shown that he can’t be the best player on a contending team. And I agree with you, he’s done in Boston. You ready for this? [His] teammates will help him pack.”

Obviously alluding to the fact that Irving’s teammate will be excited to see his possible departure, the comment comes the morning after Boston’s 113-101 loss to the Bucks. In Game 4, Irving shot just 7-for-22 from the field. Boston now trails Milwaukee 3-1 in the playoff series and it’s possible that Irving played his last ever home game at TD Garden.

For New York Knicks fans, this should be great news. The Celtics have done worse with Kyrie than without him, some Boston fans have turned on him, and New York has been the rumored landing spot of Irving for months now. It’s everything the Knicks dreamed of when looking at the 2019 NBA Playoffs.

Barring a 3-1 comeback or a blockbuster deal for Anthony Davis, all signs point towards Irving leaving this summer. Much can change between now and July, but Celtics fans have to put some stock into what Jalen Rose is saying.
