Unified middleweight champion Canelo Alvarez earned another accolade on Wednesday night as he won Best Boxer at the ESPYs.
It has been an amazing 10 months for Canelo Alvarez. In September he handed Gennady Golvkin his first professional loss via majority decision and in the process took Golovkin’s WBC, IBF and WBA middleweight titles.
Then in December he moved up in weight to challenge Rocky Fielding for his “regular” WBA super middleweight title and knocked Fielding out in three rounds to capture his third world title in a different weight class.
Alvarez winning ways continued in May when he defended his middleweight titles against Brooklyn’s Danny Jacobs and won by unanimous decision.
Due to Alvarez’s impressive streak, he won the Best Boxer award at the ESPYs on Wednesday night. Alvarez beat out Vasiliy Lomachenko, Terence Crawford and Oleksandr Usyk.
“I want to thank the #ESPYS for having nominated me, & thank the fans for allowing me to win. We will keep making the best fights, & I will keep being the best boxer. Thank you everyone." pic.twitter.com/ysLn4JRvCe

Alvarez will fight at least one more time this year. It’s rumored he may fight WBO light heavyweight champion Sergey Kovalev or have a third fight with Golovkin.
